THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two police officers of Pettah police station have been suspended for not taking action in a sexual assault complaint filed by a woman. Senior civil police officer Jayaraj and civil police officer Ranjith were suspended. The two policemen who were on night duty came to the spot after the woman informed about the attack . But according to the investigation report given by the special branch, the police officers didn’t meet the woman who was in the hospital or recorded her statement. Also, they refused to register the case.

The incident took place on Sunday at 11 pm. A 49-year-old woman was brutally attacked by a stranger at Moolavilakom junction in Vanchiyoor. The complainant, who lives with her daughter, went out on a two-wheeler to buy medicine. While she was returning, a stranger followed her from Moolavilakom junction. When she reached the road near her house, the stranger blocked her vehicle and brutally attacked her. She reached her house and informed this to her daughter. The complaint is that the police did not act even after the daughter reported this to Pettah police. The police asked the complainant to come to the station to record her statement and registered the case only three days later.
