CM criticizes delay in appointment of tribals as beat forest officers

kk

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has publicly criticized the bureaucratic action that caused a delay of more than three years in the recommendation to appoint tribals as beat forest officers. He said that such delay is inexcusable and constitutes criminal negligence. The Chief Minister was inaugurating the reception given to those appointed as Beat Forest Officers from the tribal community on the occasion of the International Day of Forests.

"In 2018, PCCF submitted a recommendation to appoint 500 people from Scheduled Tribes as beat forest officers. Appointments could have been made in 2020 even with the usual delay. But the order was issued only in February 2021. However, some flaws were found in it. The amended and revised order was issued only in February 2022. However, the subsequent PSC proceedings went on swiftly. PSC actively intervened to publish the rank list on time. The delay caused by those liable to implement the government decision is criminal negligence. It will be good if such people realize this," the CM said.
