Hospital in Jharkhand destroys expired Covid vaccines

NEW DELHI: As many as 1,95,000 doses of unused expired Covid vaccines were destroyed at the Sadar Hospital in Jharkhand. The vaccines, which became expired on March 31, were destroyed at the office of the Civil Surgeon on Sunday.

The unused vaccines were boiled in hot water and then buried in the soil as per the guidelines issued by the government. Senior doctor Alok Singh said that vaccines that got expired from December to March 31 were the ones that were destroyed at the hospital. The vaccines were destroyed in the presence of SCMO Dr. CK Shahi, DPM Neeraj Bhagath, and Rijlan vaccine center in charge Sanjay Kumar.

Meanwhile, 3824 persons tested positive for Covid in the country in the last 24 hours. At present, there are 18,389 active Covid cases in the country. The daily test positivity rate stands at 2.87 percent.
