KANCHIPURAM: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman who is on a visit to Pazhaseevaram village in Tamil Nadu ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha polls was surrounded by homemakers demanding a reduction in the price of cooking gas cylinders. The women raised their demand when the Finance Minister along with MoS for Information & Broadcasting L Murugan held an interactive session with the villagers on government schemes.

Responding to the demand, Nirmala Sitharaman said that the decision on LPG cylinder price has been taken in view of the global market price. “India is heavily dependent on LPG imports. Depending on foreign suppliers affects domestic prices as it varies according to global market trends. In the last two years, global gas prices haven’t changed much”, she said.
