NEW YORK: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has been included in Forbes magazine's list of 100 most powerful women in the world for the fifth time in a row. Nirmala, who is at the 32nd position this year was named at the 36th position in 2022.
Other persons from India are HCL Tech Chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra (60), Steel Authority of India Chairperson Soma Mondal (70) and Biocon Executive Chairperson Kiran Majumdarshah (76).
Like last year, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen retained the top spot on the list. European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde and U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris took the second and third places consecutively.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and pop singer Taylor Swift are right behind. Taylor is the first female entertainer to make the top five.
US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen (27), Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen (30), television host Oprah Winfrey (31), singer Beyoncé (36), Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina (46), singer Rihanna (74) are some of the other popular names are on the list.
