BANDIPUR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Karnataka. Modi will release the latest tiger census data at a mega event to mark the completion of 50 years of 'Project Tiger' in Mysuru. He was seen donning a black hat, Khaki pants, a camouflage T-shirt, black shoes and an adventure gilet sleeveless jacket. The video of it had gone viral on the social media by now.

He will also release the government's vision for tiger conservation during 'Amrit Kaal', and also launch the International Big Cats Alliance (IBCA). Modi is the second Prime Minister to visit Bandipur and the first was Indira Gandhi.

After the safari, the Prime Minister will also visit the nearby Theppakadu Elephant camp in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in neighboring Tamil Nadu bordering Chamarajanagar and interact with mahouts and 'kavadis' of the elephant camp. The Prime Minister will interact with Bomman-Bellie couple, who acted in the Oscar Award winning documentary ‘The Elephant Whisperers’.

A tight security has been beefed up in the Mudumalai area following Modi’s visit. The entire tribal settlement area of Theppakkad region has been tightened. Hostels, hotels and other shelters have been closed as part of safety precautions.
