THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vigilance found big anomalies in the Kerala rural water supply and sanitation conducted pure drinking water distribution scheme. The vigilance found the use of substandard equipment in the scheme. They also brought out the high prices being taken from consumers who have taken this scheme. The sudden inspection from the officers was part of 'operation delta' which was conducted across 46 gram panchayats in the state.
The gram panchayath level activity committees are mostly giving benami companies the contract deal for business. Meanwhile, the KRWS engineers are sanctioning the full amount for projects that are still far way from completion.
Vigilance found the pipe and motor used in the projects as poor quality ones. Also, many such projects under the sanitation sector are yet to start squeezing away the lucre from the government budget. The sudden inspection was ordered by vigilance head Manoj Abraham.
