Chintha Jerome to step down from yuvajana commission chairperson post, likely to contest from Kollam in Parliament polls

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chintha Jerome is likely to step down from the chairperson post of yuvajana commission. CPM Kannur district committee member M Shajar may take over the post. The order in this regard will be issued soon.

Chintha Jerome is presently the member of DYFI Central Committee. She took charge as the chairperson of the yuvajana commission in 2016. She was later embroiled in various controversies. She landed in trouble for her stay in a resort, PhD controversy and the explanation in demanding the salary arrears of 17 months. However, Chintha said that she performed well through anti-drug campaign, district level adalats and job fairs.

The chairperson post of yuvajana commission is for three years. However, the last period of the first Pinarayi Government reappointed her. The second term was completed on February 6. Chintha was in the post on the condition that she could continue till the appointment of a new chief or for a maximum of six months. There are also rumors that Chintha is likely to contest from Kollam in the upcoming parliament polls.
