‘Women are allowed to have food only in kitchen area, still it hasn’t changed’; Nikhila Vimal about Muslim weddings in her hometown

Actor Nikhila Vimal is known for her strong opinions. Now Kannur native Nikhila’s words about weddings in her hometown has become a topic of discussion on social media.

The actor said that during wedding functions women are supposed to have food in the kitchen area and the husbands will be considered a newlywed groom till death. Nikhila’s remark was during the promotion of her upcoming film.

“When I talk about marriage, the rice and fish curry cooked the day before the wedding comes to my mind. I started attending Muslim weddings while I was in college. In those places women are allowed to eat food in the kitchen area. It hasn’t changed now. After marriage, the men stay at the wife’s house and he will be called as ‘Puthiyapla’. He will remain so till death”, said the actor.
