'Invited only those five for housewarming ceremony, but that death changed everything'; Mamukkoya's words

Veteran actor Mamukkoya gained popularity among the Malayali audience both as a comedian and as a character artist. He was very close with legendary writer Vaikom Muhammad Basheer. Mamukkoya shifted to his new house in the year 1994. This house was near the house of Basheer.

Back then, Mamukkoya had planned to invite only five persons, including Vaikom Muhammad Basheer, for the housewarming ceremony. In an interview given to Kaumudy TV, Mamukkoya had revealed the names of those five and the reason why that ceremony did not take place.

'Vaikom Muhammad Basheer stayed nearby. Everyone said that I should invite 4-5 people for the housewarming ceremony. I invited five people. My family and I would enter the house in the presence of five people. That was the plan. Want to hear those five names? Moidu Moulavi, Nitya Chaitanya Yati, Basheer, Azhikode sir and EMS. I met all of them and invited them to the ceremony. The housewarming ceremony was supposed to be held on August 15. Unfortunately, Basheer died on July 5. Following that, I cancelled the ceremony as per Moidu Moulavi's words," Mammokkya said in the interview.
