KASARGOD: Opposition leader V D Satheesan said there is widespread corruption in the KFON project. He alleged major corruption in KFON similar to the road cameras. A consortium of three companies namely Bell, SRIT and Rail Tel has been awarded the contract to implement the KFON project.
SRIT, the company, involved in the AI camera fraud, is also in KFON. SRIT subcontracted to Ashoka Buildcon. This company awarded the contract to Prasadiya Company. Satheesan told media that this is the company with which the chief minister is alleged to be related.
Ashoka Buildcon is a company that constructs bridges etc. They have nothing to do with KFON. A project of 1028 crore rose to 1548 crore project. Tenders were next invited for setting up a Management Service Provider (MSP) for KFON. This too was received by SRIT itself.
The deal in KFON is in such a way that the same companies get profit. The contracts were given to KFON in violation of the instructions of the central vigilance commission. All the contracts have been given to the relatives of the chief minister.
M Sivasankar issued the letter to grant excess to the tender. Sivasankar is in both AI camera and KFON contracts. The 50 % tender excess has been given by overriding the finance department's directive not to allow more than 10 % tender excess. Has not received free internet for six years. KFON is one of the biggest scams that happened during the tenure of the first Pinarayi government. The chief minister continues to remain silent, said Satheesan.
