Encounter breaks out between terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir; five soldiers killed

SRINAGAR: Five soldiers were killed in an encounter that broke out between terrorists and security forces in Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir. Two other soldiers were injured in the encounter. They have been admitted to the hospital in Udhampur.

The encounter took place in the Kandi Forest in the Rajouri Sector. Reports are claiming that some terrorists were also killed. The internet has been cut off in Rajouri following the encounter. More soldiers have been sent to Rajouri from nearby regions.

"On specific information about the presence of terrorists in the Kandi Forest in the Rajouri Sector, a joint operation was launched on May 3, 2023. At about 7:30 am on May 5, 2023, a search team established contact with a group of terrorists well entrenched in a cave. The area is thickly vegetated with rocky and steep cliffs," the official release stated.
