TOKYO: President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Zelenskiy met Modi during the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan.
Modi assured Zelensky that 'India and I will do everything possible to end the war in Ukraine'. The Russia-Ukraine war is a big problem in the world. Modi added that this is not only a problem of economy and politics, it is a problem of humanity.
"I can understand the pain of the Ukrainian people from the suffering described by the Indian students who have returned from Ukraine. India has full support for talks and diplomatic moves. India and I personally will do everything possible to end the war," Modi assured. It was also stated that humanitarian aid will continue to the people of Ukraine.
Modi and Zelensky last met at the Glasgow Climate Summit in 2021. This is the first meeting between the two leaders since Russia started the war in Ukraine. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval were also present.
