ALAPPUZHA: The demand to include marks in the SSLC is getting stronger. In this regard, the High Court ruled that the government should urgently consider the petition of Pallavi, a native of Kozhikode. As marks from 90 to 100 are recorded as A plus and 80 to 89 as A, the difference in the academic standing of the children is not reflected in the mark list.

A student who gets 650 full marks and 90% marks of 585 falls under the category grade A plus. So same consideration is given in Plus One single window admission. If the student has the same school, the same panchayat, etc. in the 10th standard and the bonus points are available, there will be a situation where admission will be allowed over the merit. There is a difference of opinion on the practice of ignoring the difference of 65 marks, uniforming through grading by giving an A plus to all, and finally even using the alphabetical order of children's names to prepare the rank list.

Teachers do not have to worry about mistakes as the grade will change only if there is a significant difference in marks even if re-evaluation is done. At the higher secondary level, as the certificate carries the marks along with the grade, even a difference of one mark is recorded in re-evaluation.
