Warning of thunderstorms and strong winds; pay special attention to those in these eight districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: During the next three hours, there will be light to moderate rain at isolated places over Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode districts of Kerala. According to the Central Meteorological Department, there is also a possibility of strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph, but there is no disruption to fishing.

From 02-06-2023 to 03-06-2023, strong winds at a speed of 40 to 45 kmph and on some occasions raising to 55 kmph and rough weather are possible at Gulf of Mannar, adjoining south Tamil Nadu coast, southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal and Sri Lankan coast. Fishing is not allowed on the above dates in the mentioned areas.

Central Meteorological Department had issued yellow alert in the below-mentioned districts according to the forecast of rainfall for the next 5 days.
30-05-2023: Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Ernakulam
31-05-2023: Idukki
01-06-2023: Idukki
02-06-2023: Pathanamthitta, Idukki
03-06-2023: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Idukki.

A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecasted. Heavy rain refers to rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
