THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain is likely to lash the state for the next five days. Yellow alert has been sounded in seven districts today. Rain warning has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Malappuram.
Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts are on yellow alert tomorrow and day after. Yellow alert was declared in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Idukki on Saturday and Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki on Sunday. A chance of isolated heavy rain is also predicted.
Strong winds and bad weather conditions are likely over Kerala - Lakshadweep coasts on Saturday and Sunday with a speed of 40 to 45 kmph and at some occasions up to 55 kmph. In this situation, the Central Meteorological Department advised fishermen not to go fishing in the Kerala-Lakshadweep coasts.
