KOZHIKODE: The suspension of Kozhikode Medical College employees who threatened the survivor in the sexual assault case to change her statement has been lifted. A controversy had broken out when a young woman, who was admitted to the Medical College's ICU after surgery, was sexually assaulted by a hospital employee. Following the arrest of hospital employee Saseendran in the incident, five employees threatened the survivor to change her statement. They were later suspended on the basis of the report submitted by the expert committee which investigated the harassment. This action has now been lifted.
The official explanation is that the suspension is lifted as the charges against the employees have not been proven. The order issued by the principal also said that the period of suspension would be treated as duty. Grade 1 attendants Asya and Shiny Jose, Grade 2 attendants Shaima PE and Shaluja and Nursing Assistant Praseetha Manoli were suspended on March 23. Temporary staff Deepa, another accused, had been fired. It was earlier alleged that no timely action was taken against the accused.
