THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that a cyclone has formed in the Arabian Sea. Cyclone 'Biporjoy' has formed over the Central Arabian Sea and the Southeast Arabian Sea and is likely to intensify further. Biporjoy, which may cause heavy rains and sea rage in Kerala and other places, may turn into a severe cyclone in the next 24 hours, the IMD has informed.
Due to the cyclonic storm, there is a possibility of thundershowers and rains with winds in Kerala for the next five days. Isolated rain may occur from June 6 to 10. Due to cyclone, rain will be active in south-central Kerala today and tomorrow. There is a ban on fishing on the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep due to the possibility of sea rage. Coastal traffic and tourism are restricted. The cyclone is currently moving parallel to the West Coast with gusts of up to 155 kmph.
