'Save culture' move: Torn jeans, see-through dress, short frocks banned in 100 temples

MUMBAI: India glitters in its ubiquitous tradition and culture which has long withstood the test of time. Temples are revered spots that seldom imbibed anything Western during all these years, including pre-independence time. However, it has now transpired into a new normal for people, especially women to walk through these holy shrines in costumes that are discerned inapt. See-through dresses, low necks, shorts, and thin frocks are the commonly seen costumes in temples. The video of these devotees also makes it to the social media viral chart.

However, the Maharashtra Mandir Mahasangh, a body having fierce authority over more than 100 temples issued a circular citing strict rules to be followed while entering temples. The temple authorities will have complete dominance to decide which dress is vulgar and which is not. Apart from the dress, no meat stalls or liquor shops should work 500m within the temple precincts. Sunil Kanwat, the Sangh coordinator informed media about the move.
