HYDERABAD: Hardik Pandya’s attempt to prove his mettle as Mumbai Indian’s captain fell flat after the first innings of the IPL match against Hyderabad on Wednesday. Sunrisers Hyderabad now holds the record for the highest score by a team in IPL history after they thrashed Mumbai Indians bowlers mercilessly.

Hyderabad scored 277 runs against Mumbai for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs. The record of 263/5 achieved by Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors India in 2013 was thus broken.

Travis Head 62(24), Abhishek Sharma 63(23) and Heinrich Klassen 80*(34) scored half centuries while Aidan Markram remained unbeaten on 42*(28). The firebrand batting saw a total of 18 sixes and 19 fours.

Kwena Maphaka, who conceded 66 runs encountered a nightmare debut in IPL on Wednesday while captain Hardik Pandya conceded 46 runs.
