THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government of Kerala has announced two days of holiday in the state for Bakrid. As per calendar, the holiday was on June 28. Bakrid will be celebrated in the state on Thursday. In this situation, the recommendation of the Public Administration Department was to change the holiday to Thursday and this was forwarded to the chief minister.
However, the Muslim organizations requested holidays for two days. It was after this; the government declared holiday for tomorrow and the day after. The general secretary of Samastha Kerala Jem-iyyathul Ulama, Kanthapuram A P Abubakar Musliyar, had the other requested that apart from the holiday on 28th announced by the government, 29th should also be declared as a holiday.
