PARIS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in France on a two-day official visit. PM Modi was received by French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne on his arrival at Paris Orly Airport yesterday evening. Following this, he was given a ceremonial reception and guard of honor.
At 7:30 pm IST, Modi met Senate President Gerard Larcher and later Elisabeth Borne. At 11:00 pm, he attended a program organized by Indian origins at La Seine Musicale.
French President Emmanuel Macron hosted a private dinner for Modi at Elysee Palace. Modi will attend today's Bastille Day parade as the chief guest at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron. Army, Navy and Air Force personnel from India will also march in the parade. Modi's visit marks the 25th anniversary of the India-France strategic partnership. Bilateral talks with Macron and the signing of the Rafale fighter jet contract for the navy will be crucial in the visit.
