Wild elephant's carcass case; Six involved in crime

THRISSUR: Crucial information has come out regarding the discovery of the carcass of a wild elephant in a rubber plantation near Mullurkara.Akhil, who was caught with the ivory, told the forest department that there are six people in the group that took the elephant's tusks.

Akhil has revealed the names of two people involved in the crime.However, he also stated that he does not know the rest of them. The forest department said that Akhil was directly involved in the crime. The forest department has intensified the search for rubber plantation owner Maniyanchira Roy, the main accused in the case.

The carcass is believed to be more than 20 days old. The forest department has taken into custody JCB owner Sundaran and driver Sumod, a native of Mullurkara, who dug the hole to bury the elephant's body.

The elephant's carcass was covered with soil, plastic, cow dung and waste materials by enlarging an existing pit in the rubber plantation. It is suspected that chemicals were used to quickly decompose the body.
