NEW DELHI: Joseph Scaria, the second ranked in the rank list and Malayalam professor at Changanassery DB College, has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the High Court verdict upholding the appointment of Kannur University Malayalam department associate professor Priya Varghese.
In the petition, he pointed out that the High Court erred in verifying the facts. Priya Varghese came to the Kannur University headquarters on July 12 and took charge after the High Court verdict was favorable. Priya Varghese has filed a restraining order in the Supreme Court asking that no decision be taken on the appeals without hearing her side.
The UGC has also approached the Supreme Court against the High Court verdict. He also asked for a stay. The UGC reiterates its position that Priya Varghese does not have the teaching experience to be appointed as an associate professor. . The UGC's appeal also raised concerns that those who are not qualified enough may mount a legal battle for the posts of associate professors on the back of the Kerala High Court Division Bench order.
