KANNUR: Even as the myth remark is leading to huge protests across the state, Speaker AN Shamseer has sanctioned Rs 64 lakhs to renovate a pond in the Ganapati temple in his constituency. The Ganapati temple is located on Karal Street in Kodiyeri in Thalassery. It was Shamseer himself who informed this through his Facebook page. A video of the temple has been added along with the Ganesha hymn 'Shyamambaram Mukha Sagaram, Tulseedalam Athisundaram'.

Meanwhile, the office bearers of the Ganapati Temple Committee of Karal Street have reacted to the myth remark made by the Speaker. "Lord Ganesha means peace and friendship and this is a place where people live in brotherhood without disputes," Temple Committee President Padmanabhan said.

"I don't think that the MLA will do any wrong act. If the MLA had a wrong stance, he would not have given permission for the renovation of the temple pond," Temple Committee Secretary Vijayan said.
