Onam kit for yellow ration cardholders only

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Free food kit for Onam has been limited to AAY (Yellow) card holders and those in approved welfare institutions. 5.87 lakh yellow ration card holders and around 50,000 inmates of welfare institutions will get Onam kit. The kit will have 14 items worth Rs.500. In a meeting convened by the food department, the ration merchant representatives informed that the kit can be distributed free of cost to the yellow card holders. At the same time, he demanded dues of the commission for the earlier distribution of the kits. Minister GR Anil said that the Supreme Court verdict to pay the commission will be implemented. The number of K stores selling LPG cylinder and Milma products will be expanded.
