NEW DELHI: After China's incursion into the Galwan Valley border in June 2020, India swiftly shifted to a war footing as disclosed by defence sources. Simultaneously, military talks between India and China are ongoing today. The 19th Core Commander Discussion is taking place in Chushul along the border.

India was prepared to face any challenge when China displayed significant aggression in Galwan. Approximately 68,000 troops and 9,000 tons of military equipment from various parts of the country were rapidly mobilized near the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh. The Air Force employed large transport aircraft such as the C-130J Super Hercules and C-17 Globemaster for this specialized operation. Alongside 90 tanks, advanced weaponry, ammunition, 330 military vehicles and radar systems were airlifted.

Comparable to the Galwan force deployment, the operation on the Indo-Pak border after the December 2001 Parliament attack was substantial. Presently, both India and China have stationed 60,000 soldiers each along the border.

India's Air Force has been actively involved in these manoeuvres. Su-30 MKI and Jaguar jets have been continuously conducting surveillance along the border while drones are being used for constant monitoring of Chinese forces. Furthermore, Rafale and MiG-29 aircraft have also been deployed.
