THRISSUR: Poet and Sahitya Akademi president K Satchidanandan took to Facebook to explain after his statement on the left was published in the national media. He clarified that even jokes were circulated as a statement and he will give no more political interviews.
There was news that Satchidanandan said in an interview that if the CPM comes to power for the third time in Kerala, the party will perish.
"Our media ethics are strange. Pointing out the dangers of the growth of the right-wing, the two-hour-long interview attempted to define the left wing more broadly after including Gandhi and Ambedkar. An edited version appeared in the newspaper and on YouTube, pointing out some of the vulnerabilities of today's Left. Other media tried to spread some lines they wanted from it. I came to Kerala in search of more freedom, but I realized that the black-and-white politics here is an obstacle to seeing things from a national perspective. No more political interviews. I will say what I want in speeches and articles," says in the note.
Satchidandan was reported to have said that comrades should pray that the party does not come to power for the third time to save it from destruction and that the communist government should not take such a stand against Grow Vasu. Satchidanandan's reaction regarding the appearance of the government's logo in the Sahitya Akademi's book was also controversial.
