BUDAPEST: Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra qualifies for the javelin throw final at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest. Neeraj Chopra secured the final by throwing a distance of 88.77 meters in his first attempt. Today was Neeraj's best performance of the season.
Germany's Julian Webber finished second with a throw of 82.39m. India's DP Manu came third with a throw of 81.31 meters.
The qualifying distance was 83 meters which only Neeraj Chopra breached. He won a silver medal in the championship held in America last year. Neeraj also qualified for the Paris Olympics with a good performance in the qualifying competition. The World Athletics Championships final is a 12-man event on Sunday. Apart from Neeraj, Kishore Kumar Jena and DP Manu are also competing for India.
