THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More than half of the people did not receive the Onam kit when the deadline for distribution of Onam kit was due today. About three and a half lakh people are yet to get Onam kit. Meanwhile, the government claims that the kit distribution will be completed today. This time, Onam kit supply is in crisis.
A total of 2,59,944 kits have been distributed as of last night. There are still 3,27,737 more people to be given kits. The government informs that the kit has been delivered to all the ration shops and the distribution will be completed today. Considering Onam, ration shops will operate from 8 am to 8 pm without breaks. The government announced that the distribution of kits in welfare institutions and tribal villages has been completed.
The breakdown of e-POS machines in ration shops along with the Onam kit supply crisis was a double whammy. The machine has been on strike since the shop opened at eight o'clock yesterday morning. Only disbursement was done through OTP verification. The problem was resolved by 10:30, but the delivery of the kit was slow. Although it had been announced earlier that the complete kits would be delivered to the ration shops soon, the non-arrival of payasam mix and curry powders was a crisis. In places where Milma's payasam mix and Raidco's curry powder are not yet available, it is suggested to buy those of other companies and complete the packaging.
