THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The report released by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has pointed out lapses on the part of the government in the distribution of social security pensions. The report stated that social welfare pension was granted to government employees and pensioners. The report also pointed out lapses such as welfare pensions being denied to eligible persons and the ineligible getting multiple pensions. 3990 persons were found to be receiving two welfare pensions. According to the report, those who did not produce the mandatory certificate also received pension.

The inspection conducted by the CAG found that 20 percent are not eligible for welfare pensions. Irregularities were found in the figures from the financial year 2017-2018 to the financial year 2020-2021.

The CAG also alleged that there is no transparency in the management of Kerala Social Security Pension Limited, which is the operator of the pension schemes.
