WASHINGTON: A US Navy fighter jet has gone missing. The plane went missing over South Carolina after the pilot ejected from it. The US military is asking for the public's help in locating the multi-million dollar plane.
The military's F-35 Lightning 2 jet went missing Sunday afternoon over North Charleston following an accident, the military said. Officials said that the search for the plane is ongoing with the help of federal aviation regulators. Those who have information are advised to contact the authorities.
The price of the jet, manufactured by the company Lockheed Martin, is 80 million dollars. America's F-35 is the most powerful fighter jet in the world. It is not clear why the pilot ejected and parachuted mid-flight. The army is also investigating whether the plane sank in a nearby lake. Two lakes near Charleston were checked, but the results were disappointing.
