He informed his inconvenience to appear when speculations are rife that the ED are likely to arrest CPM state committee member Moideen. The former minister via an email informed the investigating officials that he could not appear today and tomorrow as he as to attend the orientation classes for MLAs. Moideen reached the capital city this morning.

It is hinted that the ED has received information and statements linking Moideen to the scam. The ED has got the documents confirming his relationship with P Sathish Kumar, who has been arrested. The statements of A K Jijor, who worked as an intermediary in the financial transactions of Sathish Kumar, alleged Moideen’s association in granting bank loans. The ED also examined the allegation that Sathish Kumar had worked as Moideen’s benami. Moideen was grilled for nine hours on September 11. He had not produced all the documents sought by the ED and was asked to produce it today.

Meantime, the ED has aimed more bigwigs. The ED conducted raids at nine places including Thrissur Cooperative Bank with another state committee member M K Kannan as its president. It is reported that the ED has obtained the details of a fraud of more than Rs 500 crore in the Karuvannur Bank alone. The ED is likely to summon state secretariat member P K Biju. A raid was conducted yesterday at the CPM ruled Ayyanthole Cooperative Bank.
