New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that women have a big role to play in policy making. He was speaking ahead of the introduction of the Women's Reservation Bill at the new Parliament building. He added that God has given him the opportunity to advance the mission of women empowerment in the legislature. The Prime Minister also stated that bringing the new bill will strengthen democracy.
"Discussions about the Women's Reservation Bill have been going on for a long time. During the tenure of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Women's Reservation Bill was introduced several times, but the Bill lacked the majority to pass it. Because of this, the dream remained incomplete. Today, God gave me the opportunity to take this forward. Narendra Modi said in the Lok Sabha today that the government is bringing a new bill regarding the participation of women in both houses.
