Do you know salary of Mukesh Ambani's children who joined board of directors?

NEW DELHI: Billionaire Mukesh Ambani's sons Akash, Anand and daughter Isha were recently inducted into the board of directors of Reliance Industries Limited. However, according to reports they are not getting any monthly salary. The company has informed them that they will only be paid fees for attending board and committee meetings.

Sixty-six-year-old Mukesh Ambani is not drawing any salary from the company for the 2020-21 financial year. Other executive directors including his relatives Nikhil and Hital are getting salary, allowance and commission.

Mukesh Ambani announced the inclusion of his sons on the board of directors at the company's annual shareholders' meeting last month. Currently, Mukesh Ambani's three children are holding crucial positions in various organizations under the Reliance Group.

Mukesh Ambani has announced at the Annual General Meeting that he will continue as the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited for another 5 years. He has stated that he will perform his duties and responsibilities as Chairman and Managing Director with vigour for another five years.

The Reliance Group has written to the shareholders seeking permission to appoint the children as directors of the company. It will come into force after approval by the shareholders. It also states that the children shall be paid fees and commissions related to profits for attending meetings of the Board or committees or any other meetings decided by the Board.

Similar to how Mukesh Ambani's wife Nita was appointed to the company board in 2014, now her children have also been appointed. In the financial year 2022-23, Nita Ambani got a sitting fee of six lakh rupees and a commission of two crore rupees. Apart from Nita Ambani, other non-executive Directors are Deepak C Jain, Raghunath A Mashelkar, Adil Zainulbhai, Raminder Singh Gujral, Shumeet Banerjee, former SBI Chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya, former CVC KV Chaudhary and Saudi Sovereign Wealth Fund nominee H Ruma Omini. All of them have received a two crore commission and sitting fee. Fifty-nine-year-old Nita is the founder and chairperson of Reliance Foundation and the chairperson of Dhirubhai Ambani International School.
