Ujjain rape case: Five including auto driver arrested; 12-year-old victim in recovery phase

BHOPAL: The main accused in the horrific rape of a 12-year-old girl in Ujjain has been arrested by Madhya Pradesh police. Earlier, the CCTV visuals of the victim walking the street after the incident left the country in shock. The MP police had to wait for a grueling 72 hours before putting the accused under arrest. According to reports, the Ujjain police have arrested five people including an auto driver for the crime.

In the shocking CCTV video that emerged, the 12-year-old girl was seen roaming down the streets naked seeking help from residents. According to police reports, the girl is currently recovering after undergoing surgery. However, the identity of the girl remains vague.

The girl roamed the streets in blood-stained torn-up clothes seeking help from residents. It was a temple priest who gave her clothes and reported the incident to the police. After a preliminary investigation. it was found that the girl was raped brutally. The police also found blood stains from the auto-rickshaw where the crime is likely to have happened. The main accused in the crime is a minor.
