NEW DELHI: Shahid Latif (41), the conspirator of the Pathankot terror attack and a Jaish terrorist, has reportedly been killed. Shahid Latif was shot dead by unknown assailants in a mosque in Sialkot, Pakistan. The police informed that the attackers fled on a bike after committing the crime and all efforts are being taken to identify them.

The police suspect local terrorist groups behind the murder. Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Shahid Latif has been on India's 'most wanted' list since 2010. Shahid Latif was the conspirator of the 2016 Pathankot airbase terror attack. India launched a search for him but could not find him.

After the Pathankot attack, the NIA had filed UAPA against him. Seven security personnel were killed in this attack. It was found that the Pathankot attack was carried out by four terrorists under the leadership of Shahid. In 1994, he was arrested in Jammu and Kashmir in drug cases and on terror charges. After 16 years of imprisonment, he was deported through the Wagah border. Shahid Latif was also accused in the hijacking of an Indian Airlines flight to Kandahar in 1999.
