Rohit Sharma's half-century rescues India after early collapse

LUCKNOW: India made a steady recovery from an early collapse in their match against England. Captain Rohit Sharma played a vital role in saving India from the early setbacks, achieving his 54th half-century in the process. Rohit reached his half-century off 66 balls.

India had faced early troubles after losing the toss and three wickets for just 40 runs in 12 overs. Opener Shubman Gill (9) was dismissed by Chris Woakes, followed by the quick loss of Virat Kohli to David Willey. Shreyas Iyer was the next to fall after scoring just four runs.

India is playing with the same team that won the previous match against New Zealand, without making any changes. It was expected that R Ashwin might join the team to provide spin support on the pitch, but that didn't happen. India's spinners in this match are Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja. Meanwhile, pacer Mohammad Shami, who had taken five wickets in the last match, was retained in the lineup.

India's team for this match include Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammad Siraj. England's playing eleven features Jonny Bairstow, David Malan, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler (captain), Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, David Willey, Adil Rashid, and Mark Wood.

While there was speculation that Harry Brook might replace Liam Livingstone in the England team, no changes were made to the lineup that had previously lost to Sri Lanka.
