BENGALURU: There will be no Congress-CPM alliance in Telangana where assembly elections will be held. CPM decided to contest alone in Telangana and announced candidates for 17 seats. The CPM decided to contest alone after the talks to contest the assembly election in alliance with the Congress did not bear fruit. A CPM candidate has also been fielded against the Congress Legislative Party leader.
With this, the possibility of the 'India' alliance competing as a single entity has also gone away. Earlier talks were held between Congress and Left parties for seat agreement in Telangana. Although the meeting was held several times regarding the seat agreement, no final understanding was reached between the two parties in this regard.
The CPM had earlier warned that if the decision from the Congress leadership is delayed, it will contest alone.
