CHANDIGARH: Government school principal arrested for sexually assaulting 50 female students. Police arrested the principal of a government school in Haryana's Jind district. The principal was absconding after a case was registered in the incident. He was on the run for five days and was caught yesterday. The police said that after producing the accused in court, he will be asked to be released in custody.

The incident came to light when about 60 female students filed written complaints against the principal to the Women's Commission. Out of this, about fifty students filed complaints about the principal's sexual misconduct. They revealed that the accused had sexually assaulted them after calling them to the office. Other students' complaints also indicated that they were aware of such misconduct from the principal.

The accused principal was suspended from service following the complaint by the students. After this, the police registered a case against the accused under the POCSO Act. However, the accused went into hiding when the police registered the case. A five-member special investigation team was formed to nab the accused. It is reported that the female students have also sent a letter to the Prime Minister's office regarding the incident.
