KOTTAYAM: The post-mortem of actor Vinod Thomas (47), found dead in his car, will be held at the Kottayam Medical College today. The initial conclusion of the police is that the cause of death may have been inhalation of poisonous gas from the AC of the car. This can be confirmed only after the post-mortem.

The body was found inside his car parked in front of Pampady Kalachantha Dream Land bar at around 6 pm yesterday. Police said that Vinod reached the bar in the noon. When he did not get out of the car even after a long time, the security staff informed the police. Though he was taken to Pampady Taluk Hospital, his life could not be saved. He was staying alone at Meenadom Unakkaplavil. He was a bachelor.

Vinod had acted in films such as 'Ayyappanum Koshiyum', 'Oru Murai Vanthu Paarthaya', 'Netholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla', 'Kuttanpillayude Sivarathri', 'Happy Wedding', 'June' etc.

Villain is carbon monoxide
People who sit and sleep inside the car with the AC on should be most careful of the poisonous gas carbon monoxide. This gas may rise slightly when the engine of a parked vehicle is functioning. As it is odorless and colourless, its filling is not known. The impact can be serious as the window glasses are closed. If it gets inside the body, will lead to death. It blocks the supply of oxygen to the internal organs. Death will happen without delay. Hence, carbon monoxide is known as the silent killer. Many have died after inhaling carbon monoxide in the country including in Kerala. Carbon monoxide has also been used in mass suicides.
