Kerala to witness heavy rain for four days straight; IMD issues warning

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: According to the Indian Meteorological Department, heavy rains are likely to hit the state in the coming five days. Light to moderate rains are expected at isolated parts of the state with gusty winds also expected to accompany the rains. IMD has warned Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Kozhikode districts for the next three hours.

Apart from this, there is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts, the Indian Meteorological Department said.

A yellow alert has been announced in seven districts today. Districts including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki have been warned.

Yellow alert is in effect in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur and Palakkad districts on Wednesday while Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts have been warned on Thursday.

Strong winds and bad weather conditions are likely over the Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar, Kanyakumari coast and Southwest Bay of Bengal on Sunday and Monday. Fisherman folks in Karnataka, Lakshadweep and Kerala coasts have been warned.
