Yellow alert issued in three districts, possibility of heavy rain in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The central meteorological department has predicted its rainfall forecast for the next five days. The central meteorological department has issued orange and yellow alerts in various districts.

Orange alert
22-11-2023: Pathanamthitta and Idukki
23-11-2023: Idukki

The central meteorological department has announced orange alert in the districts. A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Very heavy rainfall means rainfall of 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours by the Meteorological Department.

Yellow alert
21-11-2023: Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad and Malappuram

22-11-2023: Thiruvananthapuram and Malappuram

23-112023: Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam and Malappuram

24-11-2023: Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki and Malappuram

The central meteorological department announced yellow alert in these districts. A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Heavy rains mean rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

Special instructions to public
In the event of a heavy rain warning, it is necessary to cooperate with it in the places where you have to move according to the instructions of the authorities. People living in danger zones should be cautious as there is a possibility of severe storm surge along various coasts. At the necessary stage, you should move to safer places. Fishing equipment should be kept safely.


Residents of unsecured homes and those living in homes with weak roofs should be prepared to evacuate based on the warnings in the coming days.
Trees/posts/boards etc standing in danger in private and public areas should be secured and trees should be trimmed. Dangerous conditions should be brought to the attention of the authorities.

In the event of heavy rains, under no circumstances should one cross rivers, enter rivers or other bodies of water for bathing, fishing or other purposes.
Viewing, taking selfies or congregating on the overpasses above water bodies is not allowed.


Residents living downstream of the dams should make preparations to anticipate the possibility of water overflowing from the dams and evacuate, if necessary, as per the instructions of the authorities.


Avoid night travel to hilly areas completely. It is also important to be aware of the dangers of trees falling down in the wind and posts collapsing.
