SRINAGAR: Four soldiers, including two officers, died in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri on Wednesday. The encounter took place in the Kalakote forest area of Rajouri. Army officials informed that the search for the terrorists has been intensified.
The encounter was a joint operation conducted by the special wing of the army and the police following intelligence reports of the presence of terrorists in the Kalakote area. In the last few days in Rajouri, a terrorist was neutralized. Last week, five terrorists were eliminated by the army at Kulgam. Over the years, the Pir Panjal range in Kashmir has turned into a gruelling test for the army with repeated terrorist attacks. Terrorists are using the Pir Panchal forest as a hideout by taking advantage of the unique topography.
There was a stalemate in terrorist infiltration in Kashmir for some time, which was majorly attributed to the success earned by hosting the G20 summit. And now, things are again going topsy-turvy in the high altitude range.
