THALASSERY: The Chief Minister and the Ministers held a cabinet meeting yesterday at Pearl View, a private hotel in Thalassery. The four-star hotel was considered as all ministers had come to Kannur for the Nava Kerala Sadas. Chief Minister, Ministers and Chief Secretary Dr V.Venu attended the meeting held at the board room of the hotel.
The first agenda item in the meeting was the assessment of the Nava Kerala Sadas. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that Nava Kerala Sadas has already become a huge success. He also said that the success of Nava Kerala Sadas was disturbing the opposition.
"People have taken it up. Complaints received should be resolved promptly. An action plan should be prepared for this. The redressal of grievances should not be delayed. This should be supervised by the Ministers and the Chief Secretary. Disturbed by the success of the Nava Kerala Sadas, the opposition will adopt many methods to destroy it. That is what we saw in Kannur," the CM said.
The Cabinet meeting also approved the waste disposal project in Kochi. Although the Cabinet meeting had been held outside Thiruvananthapuram before in emergency situations, this was the first time that the full Cabinet meeting with the Chief Minister and Ministers was held outside the capital.
Ministers GR Anil and J Chinchurani, who had gone to attend the funeral of former Karunagapally MLA R Ramachandran, reached Kannur on Tuesday night. When the ministers are out of the capital city, the Cabinet meetings are usually held at government guesthouses or resthouses of the PWD department. Although there was a resthouse in Thalassery it was not considered for the cabinet meeting yesterday.
