Advises people via own YouTube channel; finally, Ustad’s true colour is out, sexually assaults 13-year-old boy several times

MALAPPURAM: A 13-year-old boy came to the fore disclosing about a sexual assault he faced several times from an Ustad. The incident happened at Malappuram Vazhikkadavu. The boy told the teacher that he was afraid to speak to anyone about it as it was the Ustad behind the act. The police have taken Muhammad Shakir Baqavi, a native of Mampad into custody.

The teacher later informed the Vazhikkadavu police about the incident. He was arrested after an investigation conducted by the police found that the boy’s complaint was true. Muhammad Shakir was produced in Manjeri court. He will be taken into police custody for detailed interrogation.

Muhammad Shakir Baqavi is a madrassa teacher and a well-known religious preacher. He is active on social media. Through his YouTube channel, he has preached on issues such as misguided youth and punishment for wives cheating husbands. After the incident came to light, there was huge protests against the accused on social media.
