'Saw that video of Ashokettan, I will not mimic him hereafter'; Azees Nedumangad

Actor and mimicry artist Azees Nedumangad said that he will no longer mimic actor Ashokan on stage. The actor said this in response to Ashokan's criticism that he felt that Azees was overdoing when he imitated him on stage. Azees said this while attending the promotional event for his new film 'Pazhanjan Pranayam.'

"I had seen that interview of Ashokettan. It was a friend of Ashokettan who sent that video to me. If a person feels offended by seeing someone imitating him, he can openly say it. That is his freedom of speech. Ashokettan might have gotten offended while seeing my performance. That is why he openly said it. However, I have taken a decision. I have decided that I will never mimic him on stage hereafter. Mimicry artists are the ones who remind actors like him to the audience. Such performances can get noticed only if we overdo it on stage. As there are so many people watching the performance, we have to overdo it as a performer,” Azees said.

There are many people who imitate me with perfection but there are also some who irritate me. If you watch the movie, you can see that I never did this exaggerated reaction as portrayed by mimicry people. These artists are making it more dramatic. These people are mocking us and making good money. There are also some other people who deliberately mock us. Azees Nedumangad is one such artist I feel too difficult to bear. He is a great actor but I feel he is overdoing when he imitates me. He is a good friend and has told me how he earned good money imitating me. That is it, we can't complain about these things.
