'Crucial evidence of first day solved the case'; M R Ajith Kumar IPS on Oyoor case

KOLLAM: ADGP MR Ajith Kumar termed the abduction of a six-year-old girl in Kollam as a blind case. He praised the police officials for upholding professionalism despite torturous intrusion from the media.

“ The crucial evidence from the first day connected all the dots. We knew that the gang were from Kollam and knew that it should have been someone familiar with the roads. The case was proved within 96 hours by collating cyber evidence and information received from locals. Even the media tried to solve the case but to no avail. The abduction was carried out with thorough planning. This type of case requires time to solve. Police never succumbed to pressure amidst unwanted media trials and controversy. I congratulate all the officers who were in the investigation team”- ADGP said.

“ Padmakumar was severely affected by Covid. The family needed money and the sudden health issues affected him mentally. All he wanted was to make money in a blink of an eye and thus he went for this ridiculous plan. For more than one year, the family have been working on this plan. The first number plate was made a year ago. The second number plate was made more recently. Padmakumar used to drive through certain areas in search of kids and it was how they took the child from Oyoor. However, the gang were taken by surprise when they saw the victim’s brother Jonathan attacking them. They never anticipated such a response from the young champ.“

All three arrested will be produced before Kottarakara court before Saturday evening.
