HYDERABAD: K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) did not even dream of the growth of Revanth Reddy, who learned political strategy from the Telugu Desam Party, when he joined the Congress in 2017. Revanth Reddy's arrival at the helm of the Congress came after Uttam Kumar Reddy resigned as the party president after the defeat in the last Lok Sabha elections. In short, the arrival was truly a good entry.

Revanth Reddy, the 54-year-old politician worked from the front to break KCR's dream of continuing to power again in the state. Reddy was in the front not only to be in a leadership position with the title of president but also to work with the people and the streets. Despite protests from senior leaders, the national leadership also stood with Reddy. Within months, Reddy turned a popular face of the Congress in Telangana.

Revanth Reddy stood with the activists to create anti-incumbency sentiment in the state. Reddy became the biggest critic of the chief minister and the state government. Recently, the criticism levelled against KCR's son was much debated. Revanth Reddy said that he came in merit quota and KCR’s son in management quota.

Along with this, the high command's assessment that Revanth Reddy is the most suitable leader to face KCR is seen to be correct. Revanth is an MP from Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency, which has the largest number of voters in the country (31,50,303 voters as of 2019). Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) was really scared when they campaigned in Kamareddy constituency. Revanth is expected to get anti-incumbency votes as a leader who has been constantly making allegations against KCR.

Presently, Revanth Reddy is contesting in two constituencies. Revanth Reddy, who contested against KCR in Kamareddy, is surging ahead. Revanth Reddy is also leading in the second constituency, Kodangal. With the Congress coming to power in the state, Revanth Reddy is more likely to become the chief minister. This demand was raised from the people in the constituency meetings of Revanth Reddy, which was attended by Rahul Gandhi as well. This was the first slogan in Revanth's campaign meeting as in the campaigns of other Congress candidates in the early days of the election campaign.

Entry to Congress
Revanth was TDP MLA from Kodangal in 2009 and 2014 elections. He joined Congress in 2017. He lost to Padnam Narendra Reddy in the last election by 9319 votes. Sitting MLA Narendra Reddy is the main opponent in Kodangal. After the formation of Telangana, the Congress became active only after Revanth became the state president. People consider Revanth as a suitable rival to Chandrasekhara Rao.
