GURUVAYUR: A bus ferrying Sabarimala pilgrims who were heading to the Guruvayur temple caught fire in front of a petrol pump. The driver's seat was completely burnt. The locals and employees at the petrol pump doused the fire in the bus that also had two gas cylinders. No people were injured in the mishap.
The diesel pump of the bus was broken, but the fire did not spread to it. The incident took place around five in the morning in front of the petrol pump near the railway flyover at the eastern gate of Guruvayur.
The bus had 50 Sabarimala pilgrims, including seven children from Salem Edappadi. As soon as the vehicle reached the petrol pump, it went off and the fire soon spread from the front. The accident was caused by a short circuit from the self-motor.
